What was it like before?
Before SOPHIA, Barwon Health struggled with disparate and varied operational procedures that were often difficult to locate, leading to inefficiencies,challenges in the training process of new staff andpossibleerrors in patient care.
What it’s like now?
Now, with SOPHIA, staff are building a comprehensive library of digitised SOPs, ensuring standardised and optimised processes that are easily accessible at the time they are needed. Barwon Health staff have integrated SOPHIA into daily workflows and are using it to support training and onboarding of new staff.
How did we do it?
We have trained and supported several teams and departments to map out processes, create and deploy SOPs using SOPHIA.We engaged with Barwon leaders to prioritise areas of focus and with frontline staff to build and own SOP-building. We worked directly with a programme manager at Barwon to engage with a large and diverse set of teams across clinical, corporate and administrative functions
Challenges
Barwon Health faced significant challenges due to inefficient and inconsistent operational procedures, which caused:
Lack of standardisation leading to errors and inefficiencies
Increased clinical risks due to unclear procedures impacting patient safety
Insufficient training leading to anxiety and confusion
